Published Personal Narrative Party
We finished revising and editing our personal narratives and had a personal narrative publishing party last week! Students loved reading each other’s narratives and leaving compliments on sticky notes.

American Indian presentations
Students have done a wonderful job creating their google slides on American Indians with a group and presenting them to the class! We have learned so much about the way American Indians lived in their region.

We started our American Indian Unit this past week! Students were assigned a region/tribe to research. They have done a great job gathering the facts and creating a google slide presentation together! They will be teaching the class next week.
We also saw radiation in full effect today! We experimented with s'mores in our solar ovens. They were so yummy that we wanted S'MORE of them 😜

We are #thirdgradethinkers
How convenient that the Book Fair arrived on the week we are learning how to add and subtract decimals! This real world application was fun and engaging :)
We are in the revision part of our personal narratives! We are using Thesarauses to turn "boring" words into more unique, interesting words. We have writing partners so they can help us use better words in our writing, too. These little authors are hard at work!

Teaming Together to help rebuild schools after Hurricane Harvey in Texas
Hello parents,
As you all know, Houston was devastated by Hurricane Harvey a couple of weeks ago. I would love for our class to team together and help restock classrooms that lost everything! I emailed someone at Victoria Independent School District in Texas and asked her what they are still in need of. Here was her email reply:
Hi, Ms. Breiner!
Thank you for reaching out to us. We have been blessed with donations from across our great nation and it is such a comfort to us all to know everyone is praying and rooting for us! Our families’ current needs are for gift cards or monetary donations to help with groceries, washing laundry and gasoline. We are still in need of colored pencils and the 100 page composition books and/or poly plastic folders with pockets and fasteners.
Blessings,
Yvonne Rossman- VIctoria Independent School District
I underlined the last sentence because this is how we can help restock their classrooms :) If you are willing to donate any of these items, please send them in with your child by next Friday. I will ship all of them directly to Yvonne. This is a great way to directly impact the victims of Hurricane Harvey! I will be emailing school districts in Florida soon to ask how we can help from the devastation of Hurricane Irma.
